Crissie Fern is a wonderful tropical plant with wavy, slender, leathery green leaves. These leaves grow freely from the center stalk, resembling a large bird's nest, hence the name! Unlike other Ferns, Crissie's leaves have forked tips, giving this plant another name: Forked Bird’s Nest Fern. Bird's Nest Fern can grow up to 2-4 feet, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets and tall planters. This plant is a perfect indoor plant as it has an air-purifying and detoxifying effect and requires little care. Bird's Nest Fern plants are recommended by NASA as one of the best houseplants that help to clean the indoor air. Crissie Fern thrives in birght to moderate, indirect light and does not tolerate harsh direct sunlight or deep shade. This plant needs moderate watering. Water only the soil and not directly into the leaves to avoid rotting. The soil should be moist but not waterlogged. This plant prefers soils that can retain moisture but still drain well. You can mix your own soil with 2 parts peat and 1 part sand or perlite. Crissie Fern thrives in temperatures between 60°F-80°F and a humidity level between 50-70%. Use a humidifier and mist your plant when the weather is dry, especially during winter. This plant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer. Bird's Nest Fern is non-toxic.
